The H&R Block Emerald Prepaid Mastercard® is a tax refund-related deposit product issued by MetaBank®, N.A., Member FDIC. Emerald Financial Services, LLC, an H&R Block entity, is the program manager for MetaBank. *This fee can be lower depending on how and where this Card is used. No overdraft/credit feature.
Does the Emerald Card have an account and routing number?
H&R Block Emerald Account H&R Block uses a third party bank to deposit funds onto their card. The account and routing number are automatically populated by the H&R Block system for the third party bank. Also, filers who receive this prepaid card also have access to a bank account through this card as well.
What bank does the IRS use to deposit refunds?

Is my Emerald Card considered direct deposit?
The Emerald Card is a reloadable prepaid debit card for direct deposit of your tax refund that can be used year round with easy access to your funds. You may apply at your nearest participating H&R Block tax office or online while using our digital tax preparation product.
Can I get direct deposit on my emerald card?
If you already have an Emerald Card, getting an H&R Block Emerald Card direct deposit is quite easy. You’ll have the opportunity to choose how to get your refund when you finish your return, before you file.
How do I set up direct deposit with H&R Block?
If you’re using H&R Block tax software or you opt file taxes online with us, simply choose direct deposit as your return method. You’ll need to provide your bank or financial intuition’s routing number and your account number. These numbers can be found at the bottom of your check or deposit slip.
How do I make sure the IRS has my bank account number?
Look on your copy of your tax return. If you filed it electronically, contact your tax preparer to get a copy of it. If you saved a copy of it on your computer’s hard drive, find it there. Look at the tax refund direct deposit information to see whether you entered the correct bank account number and routing number.

Is Bancorp and MetaBank the same?
MetaBank and Bancorp Bank have struck another deal, this time for assets connected to the latter’s general purpose, reloadable card program managed by Catalina Card Services. -based Bancorp Bank completed a similar transaction in May 2017.
